Tour  Description

The Machame Route, often nicknamed the "Whiskey Route," is a highly popular and challenging path up Mount Kilimanjaro, celebrated for its superb views and high summit success rate due to its beneficial profile.

Detailed Itinerary

The day begins with a thrilling climb up the Barranco Wall — a steep rock face that looks intimidating but is safe and fun with the help of guides. At the top, breathtaking views of the Heim Glacier await. The trail continues with several ascents and descents across valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp (4,035m). This shorter day is designed for rest and acclimatization.

A steady climb takes you to Barafu Camp (4,640m), the base camp for the summit attempt. Here, the landscape is stark and rugged, with little vegetation. Rest, hydrate, and prepare your gear, as you will begin your summit push around midnight. From Barafu, you can see both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, inspiring you for the final ascent.

The toughest yet most rewarding day. You start around midnight, climbing slowly through the dark, cold night towards Stella Point (5,739m). From here, it’s a gradual ascent along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa. Witness a breathtaking sunrise above the clouds, a truly unforgettable moment. After celebrations and photos, descend back to Barafu for rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp (3,110m).
